Context

An event identity across two years, bringing a distinct atmosphere to conversations about law, policy, and politics.

2025 — Setting the summit

The Institute for Legal Reform’s vision for reducing tort costs inspired a simple metaphor: a mountain peak. Its silhouette echoed the trajectory the team hoped to see—costs rising toward 2026, then declining.

I built the identity around snowy landscapes, cool blues drawn from the U.S. Chamber brand, and subtle animated snowfall. The design carried across venue screens, printed materials, wall clings, and sponsor backdrops, creating a cohesive experience with a calm, professional presence.

I designed a series of screens for the main networking and reception space, turning data and key milestones into clear, engaging visuals. Displayed throughout the room, they highlighted the ILR team’s work at the Chamber, recognized sponsors, and gave attendees points of connection between conversations.

The response was enthusiastic, with attendees praising the clean design. Planning for the 2026 identity was already underway by the end of the event.

2026 — A new climb

For 2026, I evolved the summit identity to reflect a new chapter for ILR. The mountain remained the connecting thread, but warmer colors and a more serious tone gave the event its own character.

Exploring the direction

I explored sunrise over the peak, expressive color combinations, and pairings of mountain imagery with legal and political spaces. Each concept considered how to communicate progress and the challenges ahead while staying connected to the Chamber brand.

The final direction paired a mountain with the U.S. Capitol—a visual parallel between climbing a peak and advancing legal reform. Deep maroon tones recalled the wood and warmth of traditional legal interiors, balanced by pale blue typography and the light of a new day.

Designing for the room

I adapted the identity across registration signage, stage graphics, and venue displays. The Chamber’s radiating brand pattern added movement and connected the simpler applications to the main mountain-and-Capitol visual.

For the stage screens, I planned layouts around both standing speakers and seated panels, keeping the event title visible above them. Coordinated graphics across the surrounding screens extended the design throughout the Great Hall, with dedicated layouts for session titles and speaker information.

Making the work visible

In the reception space, a series of displays highlighted ILR’s legislative progress, international engagement, and team milestones alongside sponsor recognition. Clear maps, timelines, and concise headlines made the content easy to explore between conversations.

Carrying the identity home

The design extended to a branded gift set, including a charging dock, custom packaging, and a product card. The mountain-and-Capitol imagery tied the box to the event, while the maroon palette and Chamber pattern gave the dock a simpler design for everyday use.
